Two sides to one state.

California has always been one of the most prosperous states in America, but recently our beautiful state has faced many quandaries, that have put the citizens and government in a difficult place. A plethora of money is owed and because of this taxes are tremendous. These taxes are causing our school system to diminish and products are pricier than ever before. Also there is a strong discord between the people of southern California and northern California. The south is made up of mostly republican conservatives, and the majority of the north are liberals. Also, the government is mostly made up of liberal thinking men and women. These facts have caused a lot of discontent within the state and lots of talk and decisions are being made to decide the future of the state.
One of these ideas is to actually split up the California right in half. The Bay Area and Las Angeles would make up California and would continue to be governed by the government in Sacramento. The new state that would be created through this split would be called, South California. This new state would be created on more republican ideals and would focus on securing the borders between Mexico and creating a strong, well working public school systems and creating a strong vibrant economy. The counties that would make up South California would be: Riverside, Imperial, Sand Diego, San Bernardino, Kings Kern, Tulare, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa and Mono.
This idea originated in Riverside county, when supervisor Jeff Stone proposed it. Although there are a few supporters, the majority of the people are displeased. Fellow Riverside county supervisor Bob Buster has been quoted saying.
“The split-state idea is a crazy distraction. We should begin to get our own budget balanced, which we haven’t done yet, and put in place some of the reforms we need in this county before we try and go and restructure the government in the great state of California. The temperature has gone up in Riverside County and it seems Supervisor Stone has gotten too much sun recently.”
The board of supervisors voted for the summit with the stipulation that, fortunately, no public funds should be spend on the secessionist movement.
This secession movement will never go through though because with the division of California, which is a democratic state, two new states will be created and the new South California will most definitely a republican state. This will cause the republican party to go crazy with happiness, but democrats will never let that happen. Also the proposal to divide the state will have to pass through the legislature and U.S congress. Which is unlikely to ever happen, because there are so many things that would need to be divided, like the colleges and more importantly the states budget itself. The 13 counties that will make up South California want the states debt to go to the country including the old government for reasons that, “They should get it because they are the ones that will have to continue with their old government, where as we will become a newer, tremendous state.” Maybe we need another Missouri Compromise.
